Mother of: Adam
Venue: Majestic Mirage Punta Cana Resort
Vibe: Beachy
Dress: Revolve
Once Adam and Alyssa decided on a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic, mother of the groom Melissa found a dress that felt right for a tropical beach wedding: halter style maxi in a vibrant pink floral. She showed her son a photo of the dress. “Too bright,” Adam said.
So Melissa, a mindset coach, decided she’d wear it for the welcome dinner. She bought what she describes as a “more traditional” mother of the groom dress, and tried it on for Adam, the oldest of her three sons, just a few days before they were set to fly to Punta Cana.
“He hated the conventional dress, and loved [the pink] one when I put it on for him,” Melissa says. “So it all worked out. Except that the other dress is sitting in my closet.”
Indeed, her first instinct was spot on. “I love the halter neckline and that the dress was so light and free even though it was form fitting,” Melissa says.
Knowing she’d be walking in sand, she paired the dress with a silver wedge she found at her favorite Chicago specialty shop, Lori’s Shoes.
“It was a magical beach wedding just as the couple dreamed,” Melissa says. “Adam and Alyssa bring out the best in each other; they are authentic and enjoy living their best lives together. We danced the night away celebrating the union of the beautiful couple with family and friends.”
