Well into the reception of Allison and Jordan’s fall wedding—after the bride danced with her father and the groom with his mother, Allison surprised her mom Lynn by presenting her with the bridal bouquet.
“She said there is so much attention to the father daughter dance and the mother son dance at most weddings that the MOB often gets no acknowledgement,” Lynn recounts. And the tears flowed.
That special moment capped months of planning, with Lynn as the chief wedding planner. One of the most stressful details: finding the right mother of the bride dress.
“I kept seeing the same silhouette,” Lynn says. She shopped for six months, at department stores, specialty stores, and online. “It is a stressful and expensive process purchasing a dress for a wedding—especially as mother of the bride.”
But the good thing that comes out of trying on so many dresses: Lynn finally spotted one online that spoke to her. “It was not like any other mother of bride dress I had seen before,” Lynn says of the MGNY by Mori Lee navy satin gown with jewel encrusted straps, purchased from online shop Couture Candy. “I thought it was special; not over the top with bows and beading—straps and side ruching were enough for me.”
Best of all: “Both of my daughters said they loved it!”
