Lisa K: Trust Your Instincts

Mother of: Hayley
Venue: Stone House Villa, Driftwood, Texas
Vibe: Formal and fun
Dress: Sachin & Babi

Lisa spotted Sachin & Babi’s “Simone” gown early in her search for a mother of the bride dress. “I just wanted to be comfortable and not be tugging at anything during the day,” Lisa says.

With its glittering drop sleeve deep V top and classic box pleat ball skirt, the Simone gown is the epitome of cool elegance. Plus, it has pockets.

But it was early, so Lisa says she felt compelled to go on the journey of occasion dress shopping for her daughter Hayley’s spring 2024 Texas wedding to Matt.

”I was constantly going through the online stores, searching,” Lisa says. “It’s hard now, since retailers don’t have much inventory in stores.” She tried on at least 20 gowns at boutiques and department stores in Chicago. She ordered nearly as many online.

But she kept going back to the Sachin & Babi gown, which she eventually ordered in silver and pink (you can find her “peony” colorway on resale sites like Poshmark; this perennial style is currently available from Sachin & Babi in charcoal gray or navy).

“I put it on and felt beautiful! It was so comfortable and had pockets and a great front slit,” Lisa says. “The material was gorgeous. I just had so much fun wearing it. Thinking about the dress puts a smile on my face!”

The bride and groom, Haley and Matt, are Texas transplants—she’s from suburban Chicago; he’s from Philadelphia. They met in Austin in 2019, bonding over a love of sports and dogs. They stayed together throughout the pandemic, and when they decided to tie the knot, they chose Stone House Villa, a modern venue with rustic touches and scenic views of Texas Hill Country.

The ceremony took place outside, so Lisa chose a block heel by Badgley Mischka. Her jewelry included meaningful nods to family: her Dad’s vintage gold Elgin watch, her grandmother’s ring, and her mother’s diamond earrings.

In a day bursting with joy and love, Lisa says it’s impossible to pick a favorite moment, but the vision that stays with her: “The happiness on Matt and Hayley’s face after they kissed!”
