"The universe told me: 'You're not done.'"
We are HERE for Demi Moore's award season victory lap.
Winning her first Golden Globes and Critics Choice awards for her role in The Substance at age 62, after 45 years of Hollywood relegating her to "popcorn actress," is inspiring and encouraging for so many women who are trying to define, or redefine, their purpose and opportunities over 50.
"The seniors are killing it," she said on stage at the AARP's 23rd annual Movies for Grownups Awards. "If you had told me in my 20 that my 60s would be the best moments of my life, I wouldn't have believed it...you couldn't pay me to be 21 again!"
She's bringing her A-game to the red carpet. And while her movie star looks aren't exactly the most relatable, there are reasons for the rest of us (who are perhaps choosing to age more naturally) to feel encouraged:
- The clavicle ages really well. Go strapless!
- Hair down gives modern, youthful vibes.
- Black and metallics are always cool.
- Yes to looking sexy and sophisticated at any age.
And hey, you too could own the Oscar de la Renta crystal triangle embroidered sleeveless ankle length gown she wore last weekend for the AARP Awards. Neiman Marcus has it—for $7,990. Not many sizes remain, which means Demi isn't the only one willing to spend that on a dress.
