Zoë François Shops for an Emmy Awards Dress

Pastry chef, award-winning cookbook author, TV host and… Emmy nominee! When Zoë François found out she and Andrew Zimmern were nominated for an Emmy Award as daytime personalities for their Magnolia Network special, Holiday Party with Andrew and Zoë, she did a little dance…abruptly stopping in her tracks to ask: “What am I going to wear?!”

Zoë channeled the Hepburns—Audrey and Katharine—as she shopped for a red carpet-worthy look. (Great practice in the run up to her next starring role as mother of the groom.) “People really go all out for these awards shows. I want to look age appropriate, but I still want to be sexy and fun; sophisticated and glamorous.”

Zoë started by shopping her closet, where she found this Norma Kamali stretch lace princess style midi dress—perfect for twirling, but, she determined, “Not quite dressy enough for the Emmy Awards.” Sold out, but set an alert to be notified if one comes online.

Full on Audrey Hepburn vibes in this convertible bow-embellished silk jumpsuit. “I loved the idea of a dress, but also pants. I have to be able to move.” The fit was the problem. “I wasn’t sure my body type was right for it. I liked the style, but would have had to get it altered dramatically.” Buy from Saks Fifth Avenue.

Chiara Boni La Petite Robe

This pleated cutout mermaid gown had her at bell sleeves. “The sleeves are so fun; the material is so comfortable—you don’t feel naked, even though it’s tight.” (So tight-fitting, Zoë  says, there's no room for shapewear.
