We called in dresses from the spring collections of three of our most popular brands and invited three mothers of-to-be to try them on. The floral print is so fresh, the all over pleating gives this dress a beautiful flow, the balloon sleeves offer full coverage with a chic spin. We worried this might be one of those dresses you need to be 6 feet tall to pull off, but it looked great on Barb, curves and all, in a size 10. Sizes 2 to 22. $780.

Teri Jon Jacquard One Shoulder Side Ruffle Gown
In a crowd of one shoulder dresses, this one is a standout, from the flattering fit of the bodice with ruching in all the right places to the side ruffle and trumpet silhouette, which gives you room to breathe while still accentuating curves. Short dresses were a tougher sell to our moms, but below the knee can be a great option, especially for petites like Lynn. This dress was a chic surprise—it looked so lovely on her, and was comfortable to wear. The shoulders can be adjusted.
