When the Bride Champions Her Mom's ‘Wow’ Moment

When the Bride Champions Her Mom's ‘Wow’ Moment

MOB: Galina
Mother of: Anna
Venue: Radisson Blu Aqua, Chicago
Vibe: Black tie optional…”their very own Big, Fat, Jewish Wedding”
Dress: Peter Langner from Ultimate Bride

Her own wedding 35 years ago was modest. Galina Veksler rented her dress. Only a few pictures exist of her in it.

Her daughter Anna’s wedding felt like a chance at a redo, and the bride embraced it.

“My mom never blends into the background so she wasn’t going to start at my wedding!” Anna Veksler says. “This was the wedding she never had and she deserved to feel like a princess!”

Adds Galina, “I’ve dreamed more about this mother of the bride dress than I ever did my own wedding dress.”

After one of Anna’s fittings at Ultimate Bride in Chicago, Anna asked her stylist to pull some mother of the bride dresses.

“Pull your best, most over the top dresses for my mom,” Anna requested.

“Something pink!” Galina chimed in.

And that’s how she came to wear a dusty pink Peter Langner ballgown.

“It was regal and so flattering — a show stopper,” Galina says. Anna conquers: “I think this dress is different than anything she’s ever worn. She ordered and sent back a lot of dresses. This one finally just felt right.”

Galina’s message to other moms: don’t shy away from who you are. “Some mothers of the bride are looking for that wow factor — something glamorous and style forward. There is a market for us!”
