You know you’ve found the right dress when you spend hours on the dance floor and never once stop to hoist, gather, rearrange the material or wonder how you look. Tracy had that sort of pure bliss day at her daughter Kylee’s summer wedding on Cape Cod. Yes, she was overjoyed about the union of Kylee and Dylan. And yes, it was a blue sky day in a picture perfect setting that means a lot to this family, and every detail went off without a hitch. Also, Tracy really loved her dress, and it showed.

The dress was a one shoulder A-line gown in a navy metallic jacquard with gold flecks that gave the fabric an all over shimmer. The standout detail: a bow overlay on the bodice.

“I’ve never worn a more comfortable dress—ever,” Tracy says.

She started her dress search at the bridal shop where Kylee got her dress. “The dresses felt very matronly. I definitely didn’t want something too young, but I also didn’t want a typical MOB dress,” Tracy says.

On a trip to Boston, she spotted the Teri Jon bow gown at Bloomingdale’s. Her daughter insisted she try it on. “It initially felt like too much—I’m only 5’’4 so I didn’t want to be swallowed up by the dress.” This is where a great seamstress makes all the difference. Tracy found someone who removed the train on the dress and tacked down the bow just slightly.

Having grown up in Sagamore Beach on Cape Cod, Kylee always wanted a seaside wedding. She and Dylan met as freshman undergrads at Loyola University Maryland and now the two are law students at Suffolk Law School in Boston. August was their best chance to get away.

The ceremony and reception took place at the Wychmere Beach Club & Resort in Harwich Port, a luxe seaside setting with views of Wychmere Harbor and Nantucket Sound from just about every event room and deck.

The invitation said "Sea, sun, dinner and dancing to follow." And it delivered on every level. The wedding took place on a sunny, 80 degree day. “The venue, all of the vendors—everything was perfect,” Tracy says. “We had an incredible evening…spent mostly on the dance floor!”
