A wedding postponed due to Covid only gave Maureen more time to stress about her dress. Even before the pandemic, her daughter’s wedding was long in coming: Megan and Andrew dated for nine years—all throughout college, then they survived long distance, and reunited in Missouri where they spent a couple of years together before finally getting engaged in 2019.
And then they had to postpone their wedding.
Before lockdown, Maureen visited a wedding boutique in person and found it “stressful and unpleasant."
"They had a limited selection of dresses in my size, I did not like the styles, silhouettes or all the appliqué on some of the dresses—that was just not me.”
While stuck at home, she shopped online. “We knew it was going to be navy, which helped narrow down the selection a bit, but clearly navy has become a popular color so there were still a lot to choose from.” She ordered two Adrianna Papell dresses and fell in love with the first one she tried on, a short sleeve, floor length dress. Much to her surprise: it was beaded. “I never thought I’d wear a beaded dress, but it was exactly what I was looking for: the silhouette, the color, the fit, all while being very classic and elegant. I felt wonderful in it, from the wedding ceremony to the dance floor.”
Now here she goes again: Maureen’s other daughter is getting married in the spring of 2023, so she’s on the hunt for the perfect mother of the bride dress for a mountain getaway.
