Lanae P.: Three Weddings in 18 Months

Lanae P.: Three Weddings in 18 Months

Nothing could equal the commotion of giving birth to three babies—a son and then twin daughters—within the course of 18 months…except perhaps all three of those now-adult children getting married within a year and a half of each other. “We joked with them that we did not request a coincidence in timing like that,” says Lanae, mother of the bride, mother of the groom, and then mother of the bride again. Shopping for three special dresses in such a short span of time, she zeroed in on what’s most important to consider when dressing for an occasion as momentous as your son or daughter’s wedding day. She shared her takeaways, and dresses, with us:

Wedding One

Mother of: Courtney
Dress: Lauren Ralph Lauren from Macy’s

Courtney’s wedding color was mint green, so Lanae chose a deeper green sleeveless straight sheath with jeweled straps by Lauren Ralph Lauren. “I loved the formal design of the dress, but it was heavier than it appears—and therefore, warmer due to the layers of material,” Lanae says. “Plus, it was not forgiving.” Lesson learned.

Wedding Two

Mother of: Tyler
Dress: Tahari ASL from Macy’s

This time, Lanae went for a looser fit; fuller skirt. “It was much more comfortable and forgiving—better for indulging in food and cocktails and dancing,” she says. “I loved the detailing on the upper back.

Wedding Three

Mother of: Heather
Dress: Tahari ASL from Macy’s

Stick with what works! For her other twin daughter’s wedding, just four months after her son’s, Lanae went back to Tahari ASL. She wanted to pick up on shades of purple in the wedding—Heather’s favorite color—and says “I was really excited to find this floral gown full of colors…and comfort!” Once again, she chose a sleeveless A-line style to show off her shape and leave room to move.

“Once I was able to let go of the stress of each wedding, and let loose at the reception, I had a fantastic time celebrating with them and family and friends.”
