You think you’re planning for every possible wedding contingency…and then Hurricane Helene descends.
The day before the wedding, Mother of the bride Kristin lost power at home in Greenville, South Carolina. So did the bride, Olivia, in Charlotte, North Carolina. They got dressed for the rehearsal party at Olivia’s gym. Their officiant couldn’t get home to pick up his suit due to road closures and had to go on a last minute shopping trip. Several guests were unable to make it.
But that’s life, and marriage. There will always be surprises, and stresses, and you carry on—focused on what’s most important: the love.
Luckily, power was restored in time for the wedding. And all of the wedding vendors were able to deliver, as planned. “We were grateful that we were able to proceed,” Kristin says.
At least finding the perfect dress wasn’t a stresser. Oliva and her groom, Brenden, didn’t have attendants, so they told Kristin to wear whatever color she liked.
An Adrianna Papell gown caught her eye on Nordstrom.com: one shoulder, floral jacquard gown in a swirl of navy and orchid. “I thought the jewel tones would be a beautiful choice,” Kristin says. “It was the first and only dress I tried.”
She paired the dress with a navy metallic textured block heel by Nina and rhinestone earrings to match.
Olivia’s brother “gifted” the couple live music for the ceremony. He played the acoustic guitar, which Kristin says was a wedding highlight as all the pieces came together for a memorable day.
