Karen S.: Future Daughter-in-Law for the Win

Karen S.: Future Daughter-in-Law for the Win

Mother of: Clay
Venue: The Reed House at Live Oaks in Jackson, Mississippi
Vibe: Black tie outdoors
Dress: Gia Franco

You can’t ask for a more ideal bride-mother of the groom scenario than this: the bride, Laura, found the perfect dress for her future mother in law, Karen, while getting sized for her own wedding gown. Karen promptly drove the 3.5 hours from her home in Louisiana to the The Bridal Path boutique in Madison, Mississippi to try it on.

The dress was by Gia Franco, a brand sold through boutique shops that offers a broad range of sizes and styles that are classic and elegant. The style Laura picked for Karen was an off-the-shoulder floor length gown with sweetheart neckline, ruched waist, flared hem and a small train. It checked all of Karen’s boxes, including “a weighty fabric with texture.” The bride also knew that the mother of the groom preferred sleeves.

“I definitely did not want to accentuate my arms and waist,” Karen says. “Not all mothers of the bride and groom are runway size models!”

No matter—the bridal boutique and the bride made Karen feel like a star: “It was a sweet experience,” Karen says. “The Bridal Path was so helpful in making the decision, and the alterations department was phenomenal.”
