Jeanne T.: Florida Holiday

Jeanne T.: Florida Holiday

Mother of: Ashlynn
Venue: La Playa Beach & Golf Resort, Naples, Florida
Vibe: Formal beach wedding
Dress: Mac Duggal

Ashlynn and Joe Lombardi met on a film set in Los Angeles in 2021—she was the set designer; he was the videographer. “They’ve been a creative power couple ever since,” says Ashlynn’s proud mom, Jeanne Tierney.

When it came to planning their December wedding, Ashlynn knew she wanted to get married at home in Naples, Florida. She dreamed of a beach venue, and La Playa Beach & Golf Resort was the perfect fit with its sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico, white sand beaches and bayside ballrooms.

The bride described her December wedding theme as “Christmas, but not.” A graphic designer with an eye for details, she incorporated elements of holiday, Florida style with tropical florals in a range of pinks and deep reds. There were nods to the beach, like seashell place cards and a single palm tree on the save the date cards. The wall behind the head table at the reception was draped in sage green fabric. And to connect the couple's Hollywood life and careers, the guest book was a book of movie posters.

Mother of the bride Jeanne knew she wanted to wear a formal ballgown. It didn’t take long for her to find a Mac Duggal dress that encapsulated her daughter’s aesthetic: a strapless floral brocade in olive green with shades of pink and purple.

“I loved how it had all of her colors in the pattern and Ash loved it as well,” Jeanne says. “The colors, the pattern, the fabric, the quality, the fit
everything about it seemed perfect,” And with alterations, the bodice “fit like a glove,” she adds. “I loved that it didn't require a bra and stayed up without needing adjustment all day and night.”

She found a block heel sandal with multicolor embroidered florals by Betsey Johnson to match.

The ceremony and cocktail hour took place on the lawn adjacent to the beach, culminating with a sunset straight out of the movies. Guests then walked across the street to the ballroom on the bay for the reception.

That moment of entering the ballroom was a true “wow,” Jeanne says. “Seeing everything we so meticulously planned for over a year come together so beautifully.” She gives a big shout out to Caitlin Dunn from Well Dunn Weddings & Events.

“Hire an experienced wedding planner who you feel 100% comfortable with,” Jeanne advises. “They will help you in so many ways and with so many things you never even knew you needed. They truly make the experience so much easier and more enjoyable.”

Those details really mattered to Jeanne, whose family is in the hospitality business with a portfolio of restaurants and hotels. They planned four days of events leading up to the wedding. A bridal lunch took place at The Claw Bar in the Bellasera Hotel. The “Night Before” was a welcome dinner at the family’s beachfront restaurant, The Turtle Club, an old Florida-meets-new Naples landmark.

And each event gave Jeanne and Ash an opportunity to show off their secondhand shopping skills. For the lunch, Jeanne wore a Carolina Herrera dress from Naples designer consignment store, Audrey’s. Her “Night Before” dress was from a consignment store in Naples called Twice as Nice. Ash sourced many of her wedding weekend pieces through vintage stores as well, and in a true full circle moment Jeanne had her daughter’s: “getting ready” outfit and handbag custom made with material from her own wedding dress.

It was very much a team effort for mother and daughter. The payoff, Jeanne says, was the look on Ashlynn and Joe’s faces throughout the events. “They were absolutely radiant!”
