Hillary G.: A Pop of Pink

Hillary G.: A Pop of Pink

Mother of: Adlie
Vibe: Southern Preppy
Venue: St. Paul Church and Big Eddy Club, Columbus, Georgia
Dress: ML Monique Lhuillier from Saks Fifth Avenue

July in Georgia. Adlie and Dylan, who met their freshman year at Samford University—and got to know each other through a window, with Dylan sitting outside during the height of Covid—planned a classic church wedding followed by dinner and dancing at the Big Eddy Club, a century old private social club on the Chattahoochee River. Their color scheme was classic green and white, from the lily of the valley print bridesmaid dresses by Lula Kate to the flowers and decor.

“I thought it might be fun if I added a little pop of color,” says mother of the bride Hillary.

She spotted her ML Monique Lhuillier fuchsia floral jacquard gown at Saks Fifth Avenue not long after Adlie and Dylan got engaged. “I tried on a couple of different dresses at department stores," Hillary says, "but kept coming back to this one.”

Clearly meant to be: when Hillary finally ordered the dress, it fit perfectly, without alterations. Strapless felt right for summer in the South. “I was happy with the structure of the dress,” Hillary says. "The skirt felt very light and the way it was layered helped me stay cool.”

A popular style for its flattering A-line silhouette, ruffled bodice and side slit (see it on Andrea and Tami), the dress is currently out of stock at Saks, but still listed on their site which leads us to believe (hope) it is coming back. You might also check Poshmark, where it pops up from time to time.

Hillary kept her accessories to a minimum—just a statement earring by Borrowed and Blue

The ceremony took place at St. Paul Church of Columbus, officiated by the bride’s uncle and grandfather who are both ministers. “Seeing my daughter walk down the aisle to the violin playing ‘The Goodness of God’ was a moment she and I had always dreamed of, and it was finally happening,” Hillary says. “She was breathtaking, and I was a mess.”
