Mother of: Jenna
Wedding venue: Hyatt Regency Chicago
Vibe: Downtown glam
Dress: Alexander By Daymor from Gigi’s Closette
The bride asked her mom to wear black, and Diane was happy to oblige. “That was perfect for me!” And fitting, too, for a glamorous black tie affair in downtown Chicago.
Diane went straight to Gigi’s Closette, a longtime special occasion boutique in Glenview, a Chicago suburb. “Everyone I worked with at Gigi's was a pleasure to be with. They were helpful in my selection, didn't rush me, appointments were always on time. It was the perfect place to purchase such a special dress.”
She chose an off-the-shoulder trumpet gown with train from Alexander By Daymor (it comes in other colors!). The ruffled neckline with rhinestones woven into the fabric delivered the wow factor on this fitted black column black. “I felt fabulous in my dress,” Diane says. “I loved the slight train, the detail at the ruffled shoulder, and the hint of rhinestones.” And it distinguished her dress from the mother of the groom, who also wore a black gown. (The bridesmaids were in a wine color.)
Jenna and her groom, Adam, started their relationship on the dance floor. High school classmates, they went to the homecoming dance together their sophomore year, and never stopped dating. “They’ve been together so long that we have become such good friends with his family,” Diane says. “Sometimes at wedding receptions, there is the bride’s half and the groom’s half. This wedding, pretty much everyone knew each other. It made for such a special group of guests who never left the dance floor! You could feel the love everyone had for Jenna and Adam.”
