Mother of: Lindsay
Venue: Carmel Mission Basilica and The Quail, Carmel Valley, California
Vibe: Black tie optional
Dress: Teri Jon

Lindsay and Brandon have been friends since kindergarten. And friends is what they thought they’d be for life—until junior year of high school when they found themselves spending more and more time together. Lindsay remembers thinking: whomever ends up with Brandon is going to be the luckiest girl in the world. But wait, could that be her?
It could. Brandon was feeling the same way and after a 2016 walk on the beach in Monterey, Calif, they officially became a couple. Last fall, after nearly a decade together, they got married in nearby Carmel Valley. Following a ceremony at the Carmel Mission Basilica, the dinner and dancing took place nearby at The Quail, the same picturesque resort where Lindsay’s parents had their wedding reception nearly 30 years ago.
“It was super special to us,” Lindsay’s mom Deanne says.

The wedding was black tie optional and Lindsay requested that her mom wear gold. “I have to say: I had never worn a gold dress,” Deanne says. But she was game to try it. She ordered dress after dress, but says she didn’t feel like herself in any of them. Then a friend suggested Teri Jon and Deanne immediately zeroed in on a gold metallic jacquard mermaid gown with an off the shoulder twist neckline. (This flattering twist-neck style comes in a similar fabric without the print, and other colors as well.)

“The minute I removed it from the packaging I knew it was different,” Deanne says. “Light to the touch. Soft, comfortable lining, and the shimmery two-toned effect with the gold and champagne print. When I slipped it on, Lindsay’s facial expression said it all: this was the one for me.”

Despite having never worn gold, Deanne says she loved the color. And the neckline—front and back. “The mermaid skirt with small train was something I had never even thought of, but it ended up being one of my favorite aspects of the dress,” she says.
Tailoring tip for this off-the-shoulder style: Deanne had bra cups sewn into the dress for added comfort. She paired the dress with a gold kitten heel from Jack Rogers.
“Just enjoy every single moment of this amazing time in your life,” Deanne tells other moms. “I still can’t believe it’s over, but the amazing memories I was able to share with my daughter will never ever leave me.”
