Clare S.: Let’s Hear It For The Boys

Clare S.: Let’s Hear It For The Boys

Mother of: Hamilton
Venue: Jekyll Island Club, Jekyll Island, Georgia
Vibe: Island Formal
Dress: Aidan Mattox from Saks Fifth Avenue

Hamilton and Callie met in a high school pottery class—he was a junior; she was a senior. “My husband Ashley and I have watched them grow up together into adulthood,” says Ham’s mom Clare.  “They are friends, first and foremost, which makes us very happy knowing they will hopefully always be.”

The high school sweethearts were married on the picturesque grounds of the historic Jekyll Island Club on Georgia’s barrier islands—with ocean views, perfectly manicured lawns, and a dreamy aesthetic of oak trees dripping with Spanish moss.

The bride, Callie, wanted a summer floral aesthetic for the June 2024 wedding. Mother of the bride and bridesmaids wore pink florals. A gracious mother of the groom, Clare chose a black floral print gown. “I knew that my husband and boys would be wearing black so I thought the black floral was perfect. I loved everything about it.”

The sleeveless Aidan Mattox gown was the first dress Clare tried (it's sold out, but we found it in select sizes on Saks Off Fifth and Poshmark, so search it up). “I knew immediately,” she says. “I wanted a fitted bodice and flared skirt. I am a very decisive person!”

She also knew she wanted to accessorize with a “chunky pearl cluster type necklace,” and found one by Kate Spade. Her black ankle strap heels were by Naturalizer; she bought the same style in gold to wear with her rehearsal dinner look. “They are really cute and so comfortable.” But when it came time to hit the dance floor, Clare switched into Vans high top sneakers. Despite her dress looking like it was made for her, Clare says, “I’m a t-shirt and jeans kinda gal.”

The groom has a twin brother. “Ham and Elliot are super close,” Clare says. “They went to college together to play baseball, they both moved to Colorado, and now they work for the same company. They can’t stay away from each other!”

One of the most special memories of the wedding day happened before the ceremony— spending time in the groom’s suite with her husband, twin boys, and the groomsmen, whom she’s known since they were all kids. “Just dancing and taking photos.”
