Venue: The Church in the Pines and Willow Point Country Club on Lake Martin in Alabama
Vibe: Lakeside formal
Dress: Jovani

Ole Miss is a special place for Caroline’s family—it’s where she met her husband Ken, and nearly 30 years later, it’s where her son Charlie met his future wife Sanders. Charlie and Sanders were married in October at in an outdoor ceremony at the lakeside Church in the Pines on the shores of Alabama’s Lake Martin. The reception continued the lakeside aesthetic at the picturesque Willow Point Country Club

“I’ve always loved clothing and fashion,” says Caroline, who works part time at a women’s clothing boutique. But a full length formal gown is not her everyday purchase—especially being petite. She grabbed a friend, and went to The Bridal Path, a specialty shop in Madison, Mississippi—where she bought her own wedding gown, 28 years ago. Another full circle moment.

“I was looking for something elegant, but not matronly,” Caroline says.

The last dress she tried that day was the one she loved best: an off-the-shoulder fitted full length gown by Jovani. She loved the sweetheart cut of the neckline and the elbow-length sleeves with a ruffle that matched the hemline of the dress. The deep blue with gold metallic design mirrored the autumn day by the lake. Caroline paired it with champagne teardrop earrings and and champagne Loeffler Randall strappy sandals.

Ole Miss had a football game the evening of Charlie and Sanders’ wedding. Toward the end of the reception, word spread that the team had won, and guests took to the dance floor chanting the Ole Miss Hotty Toddy cheer

“Pure joy,” says Caroline.
