Angela K.: Fit for a Queen

Angela K.: Fit for a Queen

Mother Of: Maggie
Venue: Jeffrey Mansion near Columbus, Ohio
Vibe: Formal and elegant
Dress: Teri Jon

Angela started her mother of the bride dress shopping online, but felt like she was missing out. “I needed to be in a store with a selection of styles to see what looked best on me.” Enter: The Queen’s Lace in Cincinnati.

“The Queen’s Lace is a store ‘for the Moms,’” Angela says. “That’s all they do—their focus is strictly on selling dresses for mothers of the bride/groom! The salespeople are such good listeners, they pulled everything I talked about, and helped me find the perfect dress for me.”

They also coaxed Angela out of her comfort zone: “Early on, I thought I might like to have sleeves to hide my arms, but ultimately, I really tried to keep an open mind. Of course I ended up with a sleeveless dress and I’m sure glad I did!”

Angela chose the Teri Jon one shoulder side ruffle jacquard gown—popular season after season for good reason. Angela counts the ways; “I loved the beautiful blue color, the asymmetrical neckline that wasn’t too revealing, the ruching in key locations, and the dramatic side ruffle which somehow seemed to balance everything out. It was magical!”

Bride Maggie gave her mom earrings to pair with the dress.

The summer wedding took place at Jeffrey Mansion near downtown Columbus, Ohio. The historic mansion, with its castle-like details, is surrounded by gardens and a large lawn. Maggie and Jack used the stately staircase as their aisle, leading to the outdoor ceremony on a picture perfect day. Cocktail hour took place inside an original wing of the iconic manion with the reception in the newer Carriage Court, which features historic brick, wood beams, a glass ceiling, and and adjacent patio with views of a tree lined park.

Says Angela, “It was a beautiful day all around.”
